Procedure Steps
Breast implant with lift is usually a more elaborate plastic surgery, which should only be performed only by a skilled and experienced breast surgeon. The procedure should be undertaken at an accredited surgery center or a hospital that is equipped for these procedures.
When you are taken into surgery room, you will be placed under general anesthesia so that you remain in deep sleep during your surgery and have no recollection of the procedure when you wake up. A qualified anesthesiologist will perform the anesthesia and may remain present throughout your procedure to monitor your response.
Following the placement of anesthesia, your surgeon will begin the procedure by creating the incisions in discreet, pre-determined locations as per your customized surgery plan. If the incision is placed around the areola edges, a second vertical incision will be placed from the lower part of the areola to the fold of your breast.
Through these incisions, your surgeon will place silicone or saline implants over or under the chest muscle as per plan. She will then use the same incisions to remove excess breast skin and tighten your breast tissue in order to gently lift your breasts and provide them a youthful look.
When breast augmentation and lift are performed together, it is usually necessary to raise the position of your nipples and areolas to a new level to create a natural look. The complete procedure may take anywhere from 90 to 150 minutes to accomplish.
Closing the Incisions and Next Steps
Once the surgery is completed and the implants have been adjusted into the desired position, your surgeon will close the incisions with removable or dissolvable sutures. Temporary drain tubes may be placed underneath your incision sites to collect excess fluid.
Once you are woken from your anesthesia, you will be moved to a separate recovery area where your initial condition will be monitored for a few hours. You can expect to return home the same day after your breast augmentation with lift surgery.
The breasts will be wrapped in bandages initially, and will eventually be replaced with a special surgical bra. You will need to use this bra for a few weeks as per your surgeon’s instructions.
